Dunedin Airport Terminal Enhancement

Feldspar provided project management and contract administration services for the Dunedin Airport Terminal Enhancement project, a significant programme of works aimed at enhancing the passenger experience and creating a more welcoming, contemporary terminal environment.

The project involved a range of upgrades across the terminal, including the relocation and fit-out of the Discover Dunedin retail store, the delivery of a new commercial kitchen, base build works supporting enhanced food and beverage offerings, anew coffee kiosk within the international departures lounge, and upgrades to public spaces through new furniture, fittings and floor coverings. The project also supported the introduction of Provenance and Fuel to Fly.  Building on Dunedin Airport's existing relationship with West End Hospitality Group, the new brands expanded and elevated the terminal's food and beverage offering.

The enhancements formed part of Dunedin Airport's broader vision to improve the customer experience while creating a stronger connection to the region. New furniture layouts, floor finishes, hospitality offerings, and retail spaces helped establish distinct areas throughout the terminal, creating a more intuitive and comfortable environment for travellers. The project also supported the integration of cultural narratives and artwork developed in partnership with Aukaha and local artists, helping to create a distinctive sense of place for visitors arriving in and departing from Otago.

Delivered within a live operational airport environment, the project required careful planning, staging, and stakeholder coordination to minimise disruption to airport operations, tenants, and passengers.  Feldspar worked closely with Dunedin Airport, designers, contractors, commercial operators, and other stakeholders to manage programme, procurement, risk, and project delivery.

The completed works have transformed key areas of the terminal, delivering enhanced retail and hospitality experiences, improved passenger amenities, and a modern terminal environment that reflects the character of the region and strengthens Dunedin Airport's role as a gateway to the lower South.
